On Novemeber 10th, 2023 the Dublin Neurological Institute hosted its annual Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorder Masterclass, at the Catherine McAuley Centre. Over 80 delegates attended in-person, while 185 joined virtually from all over Ireland, the UK, Netherlands, and Qatar. This year’s event saw international and local speakers from various fields ranging from neuropathology, biomedical engineering, dietetics, nursing, and neurosurgery. The variety researchers, and healthcare practitioners involved in this year’s event allowed for dynamic discussions into the latest advancements in the realm of Parkinson’s disease and movement disorders. Diverse perspectives and insights drawn from experiences in different healthcare systems and cultural contexts enriched the discussions and broadened the attendees’ understanding of Parkinson’s disease and movement disorders. This collaborative spirit is vital in a field where interdisciplinary approaches are increasingly recognized as essential for advancing patient care and scientific understanding.

The synergy between international and local perspectives was a testament to the event’s commitment to delivering a comprehensive exploration of the challenges and innovations in the field. The amalgamation of global and local viewpoints, coupled with the highly engaging and interactive format, fueled spirited conversations that touched upon emerging research, treatment modalities, and the practical aspects of challenges faced by people with Parkinson’s disease and their clinicians.

A standout feature of each year’s masterclass, is the incorporation of dynamic video presentations and live case studies. These immersive elements not only captivated the audience, but also offered a tangible representation of the complexities inherent in movement disorders. The live cases, in particular, provided a real-time examination, diagnostic, and discussion of therapeutic approaches, creating a unique learning experience for attendees. The true essence of the masterclass emerged during the lively discussions instigated by these cases.

Following the event, speakers and guests were invited to a celebratory dinner to conclude this year’s event.
